Each year, The Julian Center tries to make the holiday season as joyful as possible for the women and children in our Shelter. With your help, gifts are provided to families who might otherwise go without.
Opportunity
Our Adopt-A-Family program is a great way for families, organizations, and businesses to make the holiday season a little brighter for victims of domestic violence. Please consider helping one or more of our residents this holiday season.
If you cannot adopt a family and still wish to help, please consider providing one or more items from our Christmas Wish List. To view,
click here. These gifts are used to help those families who come into our Shelter directly before or on Christmas Day.
How to participate
It's easy. Simply follow these steps to share in the holiday spirit and become part this rewarding experience:
| |
Your form will be reviewed by the Adopt-A-Family committee where a family will be assigned based on your adoption choices.
| |
You will then receive information about the family or family member, gift ideas, and other details to assist you. To protect client confidentiality, each person will be described as mother, child, or infant along with their gender and age.
| |
We ask that you wrap all gifts and label them with "mother" or "child" along with their sex and age so the gifts can be directed to the right person. To print gift labels, click here.
| |
Place all wrapped and labeled gifts in a large plastic bag and tape your name or your company name to the outside of the bag. We rely on this information to match the gift bags to the correct family.

We ask that all gifts be delivered to our Adopt-A-Family Workshop between December 12 - 17. A community partner has provided us with work space in one of their buildings at 25 West 9th Street downtown Indianapolis. The entry door is under a blue awning with IMPD lettering on it. To make sure that someone is on-site and available to accept your gifts, please call Brittany McCollom at (317) 538-7522 (cell phone) to schedule a drop off time.
Thank you and happy holidays!
