Family Therapy

What is family therapy?

Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves working with family members, rather than just one person.

Why is it beneficial?

Traumatic events such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and other life crises easily overwhelm families and its members. Dysfunctional patterns and/or harmful coping strategies develop.

In family therapy, the family works with a specially trained therapist to develop a better understanding of the family dynamics. That understanding reveals areas of strength as well as areas of conflict or dysfunction.

Together, the family and therapist, work to implement ways to repair and improve family relationships.
