For 25 years The Julian
Center has been an important resource for information about the
impact of trauma on individuals and the communities in which they
live. Educating ourselves and others about domestic violence,
sexual assault, and childhood abuse is the first step toward
positive change for all members of society.
In this section you will find a variety of helpful tools and
information to assess and respond to abusive situations. Books,
websites, community services, and national organizations concerned
with eradicating abuse and assault are also listed here to support
you, your loved ones, or your clients in the healing process.
An Important Note to Our Clients and Colleagues:
Please remember that while reading about these topics is
therapeutic for many people, for some it can be problematic. In
order to avoid being overwhelmed or retraumatized by reading
matter, we suggest that survivors invite the guidance of a
therapist or trusted support person when selecting books,
articles, or websites. The Julian Center is not responsible for
any emotional distress or adverse effects that reading any of
these materials may cause.
