to have sex against her or his will. Survivors of sexual assault
often experience severe emotional and physical violation. For
most rape victims, the world may suddenly feel unsafe, unfair,
unpredictable, and beyond their control. Intense feelings of self-blame,
shame, and anger are common, and the process of recovery can be
difficult.
