Working with survivors of trauma and abuse can be challenging
for many care providers. Doctors, social workers, therapists,
and emergency personnel are often called to respond to the complex
needs of victims of violence. The staff of the Counseling Center
is dedicated to supporting others in the community who work with
survivors of trauma and abuse, through continuing education and
training.

We offer a broad spectrum of consultation and training services
to professionals, including:

Student Training
At the Counseling Center, we offer practicum experiences for
individuals pursuing a master's or doctorate degree in psychology,
social work, or art therapy. Each practicum is tailored to the
students' needs based on their previous training and experience.
In addition to the practicum experience, The Julian Center has
partnered with the Indiana University School of Medicine Department
of Psychiatry to offer an eight-month rotation at the Counseling
Center as part of a predoctoral internship. Interns participate
in the assessment and treatment of women and children, functioning
as the primary therapist for their own adult and child clients.
This experience requires a minimum two-rotation commitment for
the intern to gain the most valuable experience in longer-term
therapy. For more information or to apply for the internship,
contact the Indiana
University School of Medicine Psychology Training Consortium
on the Internet.
