Job Description:               Clinical Team Lead and Therapist

Status:                                  Full Time / Exempt

Reports to:                         Senior Director of Survivor Services

 

Position Summary

Overall, the clinical team serves as a crisis intervention mental health resource for residential and non-residential clients of The Julian Center. Survivors are often affected by a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder and have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault. Many survivors may also turn to alcohol, other drugs, eating disorders, and are at increased risk for physical illnesses. The Clinical Team Lead and Therapist will provide dual functions. As the team lead, he/she will coordinate and oversee activities of staff therapists to ensure trauma-informed delivery of clinical care, while also providing direct services to both adult and children/youth in the form of therapy, crisis assessment and intervention, and education and support to clients and staff on mental health topics.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one supervision for all members of clinical staff
  • Develop and facilitate monthly peer supervision groups for staff and leadership at the Julian Center
  • Plan and implement at least 2 trainings per year for staff and clients on mental health topics
  • Coordinate with local universities to develop, implement and supervise clinical interns
  • Manage internal and external clinical services referrals through agency database, Efforts to Outcomes (“ETO”)
  • Provide individual and family therapy for survivors, as well as develop and facilitate therapeutic support groups
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention for clients as needed
  • Review and respond to all clinical records requests
  • Conduct routine service data analysis and grant reporting
  • Assist with interviews for all clinical team members, when needed; Conduct orientation and training on clinical policies and procedures
  • Review and correct timesheets, review and respond to time off requests, maintain clinical team calendar
  • Evaluate performance of clinical team members and conduct annual written performance evaluations
  • Routine attendance at supervision and staff meetings as indicated
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology or other related field
  • LMFT or LMHC licensure to provide mental health services in the State of Indiana, with minimum of five years post-license experience
  • CPR certification (The Julian Center will provide training/recertification, when needed)
  • Maintain patient, team member and employer confidentiality; Comply with all HIPPA and VAWA regulations
  • Desire and ability to work with clients using a strengths-based, empowerment approach
  • Experience and competency in providing mental health services to both adults and children
  • Knowledge of Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12-step recovery programs
  • Understanding, experience and sensitivity in working with those who have experienced trauma, homelessness and the related psychosocial issues
  • Strong working knowledge of domestic abuse and the dynamics of abusive relationships
  • Desire and ability to adjust teaching styles to meet the needs of team members and overall staff to facilitate successful training and mentorship
  • Strong cultural competence, including ability to interact successfully with a diverse population
  • Commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be adaptable in an ever-changing environment
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to use email, PowerPoint and database programs

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in specialized therapeutic intervention, e.g. Art Therapy, Music Therapy, etc.
  • Experience providing services in a shelter setting; Crisis intervention training and experience
  • Bilingual
