The Julian Center, in partnership with the Lawrence police department and Beacon of Hope, are proud to present a community education event: “Bad to the Bone: Pet Abuse, Intimate Partner Violence & Child Abuse”
Presented by topical expert: Andrew M. Campbell Founder/CEO, Campbell Research & Consulting
Based on Andrew’s analysis of nearly 10,000 police reports from the scene of intimate partner violence incidents occurring in Indianapolis and his recent publications in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, this presentation will describe the many specific emotional and physical risks of harm for all adults, children, and animals residing in violent homes. In addition to the extensive risks of harm for victims, concerns for the safety of first responders at the scene of these incidents and the need for more effective intervention programs for perpetrators will also be addressed. Effective multi-disciplinary strategies for reducing risk and improving outcomes in homes where these multiple forms of violence occur will be discussed.
