Emotional and Behavioral Health First Aid for Trauma Responders and Clients

The Julian Center is pleased to host the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s (ICADV) Spring/Summer Training event: “Emotional and Behavioral Health First Aid for Trauma Responders and Clients,” presented by Carla Gaff-Clark, Ed.D., LMHC, LCAC.
During this training, attendees will practice emotional first-aid on themselves, other attendees and learn methods to assist client and others who are in trauma. The session will focus on assisting others who may be having a panic attack, suffering from depression, contemplating self-harm or substance abuse while at the same time practicing safe boundaries for the safety of everyone.
Since these trainings have been certified by the Indiana Professionals Bureau, three CEUs are being offered free of charge.
WHEN: Tuesday, May 21st – 1pm to 4pm
WHERE: The Julian Center Administration Building (2011 N. Meridian St) – parking is available just south of the building, enter through the doors facing Meridian Street where you see the large columns
WHO: Professionals working in the domestic violence, sexual violence or stalking arenas as well as those working in the addictions field or as a first responder
REGISTRATION: There is no cost to attend this event but registration is required and space is limited.
TRIGGER WARNING: This educational event will include the discussion and presentation of real-life examples of violence and/or trauma, theories surrounding trauma/violence and also interactive components. The Julian Center strongly encourages attendees to take care when deciding if they should attend and also during the session.
