2021 Adopt A Family is Closed

Thank you for your generosity in supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence during this winter holiday season!

At The Julian Center, we strive to offer balanced services across all of the individuals and families that we serve. This is especially important during the holiday season, when living in a shelter or trying to rebuild your life after a traumatic experience can be especially taxing on survivors. To that end, we have developed these donor guidelines to ensure that all of our survivors and their children receive gifts in a fair and equitable fashion.

What to Expect

  • Your family’s information will be provided to you by November 15, 2021, at the latest. However as we welcome new families on an almost daily basis, there will be some last minute family pairings if you signed up for late arrivals.
  • To protect client confidentiality, each survivor will be described as parent, child, or infant along with their gender and age.
  • If a child has specific developmental needs we will indicate that on the donor form you receive.
  • You should plan to spend $50 per parent and between $150-$200, per child.

We appreciate you! For questions, please contact or 317.941.2219.

Gift Instructions

  • Please be sure to include the clothing items for each child. Often times, our families flee dangerous and high risk situations with nothing but the clothing on their backs. This includes children. After they leave shelter, their main focus is rebuilding, which doesn’t always leave much room for buying new clothing.
  • Please do not wrap any of your gifts. Instead, consider donating wrapping paper, tape, ribbon, and/or gift bags (all sizes) so that the parent may wrap children’s gifts.
  • Place all unwrapped gifts in a large plastic bag and tape your name – or your company’s name, Checklist and Adoption Form to the bag. We rely on this information to match the gift bags to the correct family. If you have large items that do not fit in a bag (i.e. bicycle, car seat, etc.), please tape your name and Family ID on a piece of paper attached to the item itself.
