Adopt A Family

2019 Adopt A Family

Thank you for your generosity in supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence during this winter holiday season! Living in a shelter or trying to rebuild your life after a traumatic experience can be especially taxing on survivors. We have developed this Adopt-A-Family program to ensure that all of our survivors and their children receive gifts this holiday season.

Whole family adoptions have been filled for 2019 – however, there is still great need for gift cards to help us provide transportation, and day-to-day needs for families at the shelter and as they transition to a home of their own.

Please consider donating a gift card. You can sign up below.

Thank you for your generosity in supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence during this winter holiday season!

At The Julian Center, we strive to offer balanced services across all of the individuals and families that we serve.

This is especially important during the holiday season – including Christmas, Chanukah and other winter celebrations – when living in a shelter or trying to rebuild your life after a traumatic can be especially taxing on survivors. To that end, we have developed these donor guidelines to ensure that all of our survivors and their children receive gifts in a fair and equitable fashion.

What to expect:

  • Your family’s information will be provided to you by November 16, 2019, however as we welcome new families on an almost daily basis, there will be some last minute family pairings, as needed.
  • To protect client confidentiality, each survivor will be described as parent, child, or infant along with their gender and age.
  • If a child has specific developmental needs we will indicate that on the donor form you receive.
  • You should plan to spend $50 per parent and between $150-$200, per child.

Remember, if you should have any questions or concerns please contact our 2019 Holiday Adopt-A-Family Coordinator, Kristin Jones via email at adoptafamily@juliancenter.org or via telephone at (317) 941-2206.

Holiday Adopt-a-Family Gift Packages

Please include the following items for each family member:

NOTE: While we understand clothing is not as much fun to shop for as toys, please be sure to include the below clothing items for each child as well! Often times, our families flee dangerous and high risk situations with nothing but the clothing on their backs. This includes children. After they leave shelter, their main focus is rebuilding, which doesn’t always leave much room for buying new clothing. Please also remember that as the cold weather approaches, the need for winter coats, etc. are incredibly important.
