Job Description:               Youth Enrichment Manager

Status:                               Full Time/Exempt

Reports To:                        Director of Programs

Position Summary

The Youth Enrichment Manager will provide direct service to youth residing in The Julian Center residential and non-residential programs. They are responsible for developing, coordinating, and providing strategic and operational leadership for the programs focused on intervention and prevention with children and youth exposed to intimate partner violence. The Manager will manage and oversee Respite Care, Youth Advocacy, and youth related community partnerships.

This is a grant funded position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify, create and implement high quality programming and curriculum for the youth programs, building on best practices in the field, innovation, and sharing of resources.
  • Act as a McKinney – Vento liaison between the emergency shelter and the school districts by arranging transportation to and from school 
  • Identify and reach out to community partners to create programming opportunities; Build partnerships with volunteers, community members, and other organizations that provide services to the children and families; formalize these partnerships with an MOU.
  • Responsible for maintaining a functioning, safe, positive physical space for the youth who attend the programs, including ensuring that all needed supplies are available and maintained to include furniture and equipment
  • Assist in the preparation of grant reports as requested, including tracking data, report cards and enrollment numbers; Maintain files and enrollment forms for each child
  • Work closely with the families who reside at the Julian Center Shelter and make referrals to community-based services at exit, including use of The Julian Center programs
  • Attend trainings, conferences and community meetings related to out-of-school time programs; create and find training opportunities for The Julian Center Youth Program staff
  • Supervise Youth Program staff including:
    • Interviews and employee selection
    • Coaching and counseling employees
    • Disciplinary action and related documentation
    • Conducting annual employee evaluations
    • Bi-weekly payroll timesheet oversight
  • Supervise Youth Enrichment interns and work with volunteers providing oversight and assistance. Identify opportunities for volunteers and provide training and communication.
  • Work as a multi-disciplinary team member by providing updates and input with Advocates, Legal Services Coordinator, and Self-Sufficiency Coordinator
  • Direct Services:
    • Respite care
    • Program creation and coordination
    • Referrals to community partnerships
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Skills Needed

  • Computer skills should include MS Office: Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook – with strong data entry skills for database tracking
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse staff, parents, and community members
  • Ability to implement and supervise a positive learning environment
  • Commitment to non-violent and cooperative work environment
  • Commitment to providing quality and equitable services to all clients regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, religion, age or sexual orientation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a field related to child development, education, social work, occupational therapy or related field
  • 3 to 5 years experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation
  • Internships may be considered for experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Grant writing/management experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working with at-risk youth
